ok , all MKV colors are set from the preferences ( if you overide to use custom colors )

Im now looking at the transparency... this has to be modified within the SPCTL packet of the subtitle.
Its not a global issue.

Of course now were are getting into the small details of this , and ther eis no reason later not to expend the ability to remap colours within the subpack...

That for another day though....

Perhaps a proper subtitle editor for OSX?

MKVMerge is outdated...

Also there is no ARM version.

I will build new versions and update the versions on the Server.
I will implement the ARM download code in MTR too.

I will most likely make a fat build of this , so only one file on the server.

A slight detour , mkvmerge is now a fat binary , so no rosetta on ARM machines for that.

I need to look into mkisofs , never got it to build under ARM ( yet )

Now to go to exercide for an for a couple of hours , then back to the transparency issue.

new addition and a bug fixed.

The post process panel has a new preference that allows you to automatically pop it into view when a process is added,
and to have it self dismiss when all ops are completed.

Should stop the app being closed when there are post ops in the background.

Been quiet for the last 2 days:

Due to the update of the MKV backend , i was running some tests.
I found a crash.. fixed it.

More important , there was an issue when extracting a partial file in MKV mode.
The sync would drop out , the resulting file would refuse to play at all.

The cause? dont use an unsigned integer when you may have a negative value... Duh!
That one has been around for a while.....

next , the video attributes as read from the IFO were incorrect. I based my original structure on the structure
from iforead. That was incorrect.On reading and comparing the data from ifoEdit ( yes i do check )
the original bitpacked structure was not reading the bits correctly , returning incorrect values.( wrong allignment)
Fixed.

I added ( in preferences ) the possibility to compress the MKV output to reduce a little space. Test , as not all devices can handle the compressed stream.

I updated the complete MKV front end code to output valid streams with all languages set , all default streams set correctly.

VLC plays back exactly what you set as default in the app.

Next ... i need to center the post process window on the Batch panel when its initially exposed.
I still need to get the transparency bits manipulated in the SubPic pack to match when is set in the Apps preferences...

Colours can be done in the MKV header , not transparency ( effectively that is )

i need to do a bit of work in MainFeature.
At the moment it may be hard for those with sight limitations to keep track of what table of titles is currently sleected.
Im thinking to assign each disk a random color tag , and use that tag in the Disk Volumes table , the title table , and each independent title extraction to assist is a quick and easy way
to differentiate between volumes....


Any extra ideas would be welcome at this point.

ok , i just completed the "userbility" addition:

I have added a unique color tag to each mounted volume.
That color tag extends into its titles.

Thus you can now match the titles in the MF table to its disk just by glancing at the color tags.

It was quite a bit of work as I wanted to bind the color data to the tableview.
As Apple removed interface builder plugins , it makes it hard to do this with a custom view so....

I subclassed NSColorWell , disabled its ability to pop the color pallet. Redesigned its look as a color swatch.
You can bind the ColorWell to a NSColor property.

Bingo ... custom color swatch , bound to all tables as needed.
Responds to highlights to match the rest of the UI.

Transparency of the Subs tomorrow ( no excuses left now.... )

Ha!
The Color tags were totally changed.
They just did not look good.

I opted to add a gradient on the left side of each panel , fading in the relative color.
Preferences were added allowing you to tune the vividness of the colors , ar to disable them completely as per taste.

Subs are a pain , as there seems to be no standard as to what pallet index in the sub packet relates to background , pattern , emphasis 1 , and emphasis 2... pixels on the screen..

Some have the 3 index as the pattern , some , have the second Index..
I may need to rebuild the sub to standardise this...

Im going to have to do some tests , more reading , and work out a way to get it done.

Color tags are now stabilised.
Made an update in Mainfeature to resolve a user choice that , in the end was driving me nuts.

To chaing volumes in MF you had to keep mousing over to the VolumeController panel ... if this gets obscured by other views/windows , it can become tiresome.

I implemented a new contextual menu in the MF view , tied to the volume indicator on the upper right.
It mimics the volume view , but only activates in the menu those volumes that are currently loaded in MF.

You still have to load the volume in the volume controller , but now local switching can be done in the same panel.
( the volume controller also updates to maintain sync in the app )

While doing this I have been studying the subtitle issue , and have found a possible solution to the messed up pallet issue I found.. I have to think a bit more , before hitting the keyboard.

These subtitles have been a drag...
But....

I got it working.

In the end ,i had to read a pack , extract the frame data , read next pack , and further packs untill all subtitle data for that subtitle is complete.

( i have been storing all the packs up till this point )

Now we patch the subtitle frame. ( yah! )

now we start to write the patched data back into its packs. (Boo!)

Now we write out the packs , after generating ness timing info for MKV usage.... (double yah!)

I still have to do the transparency , as I have currently hard coded the value to test.
Simple , all UI elements are in , I just need to read them at the start of extraction , so we can implant the new values in the subpic stream.
Far to much work .

Tomorrow , i want to go over the new code ,and look for optimisations, clean ups etc.....
And test it on a few other streams , and set a good default for the UI on first launch.

A small update:

Still not quite out of the deep water.

It seems that not all Disks adhere to the subtitle standard.

Most do use the background as the background , but some use the Emphasis colors for the text , while others use the pattern color for the text.

there is No standard lol.....

I have had to decode half the frame ( its interlaced ) to count the colour to try to ascertain what color should be applied to what pixel group..

a day spent thinking and coding.


So , i gave these subs a lot of thought and it dawned on me..
I have access to the original subtite colors.

So , convert to greyscale to get the brightness of the individual color.
multiply the brightness value by the colors opacity (0 - 0x0F)
this gives me a table of visual brightnesses.

Text is always the most visible , background is the least visible , 2nd most is Emphasis1 ( normaly) then Emphasis2.

All I had to do was to get the relative positions of the brightnesses in the color table , and use those offsets to manipulate the preference colors into the correct place... these same offsets are applied to the opcity table as well.

Regarding Emphasis1 and 2... I plan tomorrow to add a check to see which Emphasis color is most used and apply Preferences Emphasis1 to that channel , as in the prefs I will set it brighter than emphasis 2.

You can play around with the colours and opacities though.

Im now doing an optimisation of the demuxing routines.
Quite a bit of routines that are repetitive in nature , they can be replaced with macros to ease the code layout , or written as a function to reduce code bloat...

Bit of work to do tomorrow ... got an older release that I missed.

It has a bad case of "No Bups"

Upgraded Probe to handle it , but MTR is overlapping the missing bups on top of good Ifo;s.

Need to fix that in the morn.

I fixed that issue, but im not getting that good feeling with the fix.
I think it can be done better , and I will ponder over this tomorrow.

You need to understand , the change is in the core loader , it needs to be validated , as if that fails , the disk cannot be processed.

I have ideas , it will be done.

ok , two days later , lots of ideas and alteration and I have a structural builder that seems to handle all the cases i have to test:

Side note , it now works better than probe on finding hidden BUPs , so I will migrate a change of code to probe as well over the next day or so...

I really do need to test this new front end thoroughly. If it fails , then there is no way to read the disk.
Even probe is dependent on the initial root data being correct.

something is bothering me..

When loading a disk , the process can take some time while we rebuild the disk structure.
Sometimes we have to walk the structure to look for the Bup as the table is incorrect ( in the Ifo )

The UDF table is also most likely incorrect also.

Currently there is very little progress when loading a disk , and it is restricted to the current disk . that can get messy when you load 2 at the same time, the data gets mixed on the UI , you never really know what disk is being referred to.

Im thinking to code a simple progress display class , its wil be yet another table view , that you can add progress panels to .
When empty , its dismissed from the screen , and visible when disks are loading.

Each disk class can generate its own panel to add to the class , and talk to it during loading...

If anybody has a better idea , now is the time to say.

Tomorrow I have to hook into MF , then write the window controller for automatic presentation and removal from view.

Might need to debug a small memory error ( seems something is hanging about in the rebuilder...)

right , too many windows on the screen.

So , i removed the loader window , and have started to implement the loading panels into the respective extraction views.
ISO is now complete , MF will require a little more 'manipulations' to get it to work the same.

So , basically speaking , the loader panel for the disk appears in the same view that the final extraction method view will be in.
When loading is complete , it removes itself , to be replaced by the extraction method view.


Right , time to go outside and stretch the legs.

ok , i completed that... I opted for a VisualEffects view for the MF panel.
Drop the view over the tableView , presents the Loading panels in that , remove it when completed.

I plan to add one more extra ...

On the volumes menu , if you have loaded a lot of ISO or disks... having to remove each one , one at a time is a pain....
I will work out a convenience function to remove all extraction types from the entries.

Dont jump the gun...

Woke up today thinking that the MF loader panel violates my app design standards.

I designed the basic app with the mind that whenever a secondary task is running , the primary task ( UI interaction ) should not be hindered.

Covering the MF panel with the loading panel , stopping you form working while a disk loads , violates that standard.

Im already underway making the necessary changes to implement the loading panels into the core UI , thus not blocking the apps momentum.

Should not take too long.

ok , all loader panels are integrated into the app.

An issue has arisen doing this.

MF uses ( like all other code ) an array controller to handle its data.
This array was only expected to handle titleClass objects. It now has to handle loaderClass objects too..
This has lead to an error in the Probe loader , where there seems to be a missmatch in what probe is providing ,and the data its applied to.

I will get into this tomorrow.

Meanwhile....

The loader code failed with another disk , so I have spent the last 2 days working from the ground up.

Any way , the VMGM loader is slow , and needs improving , thats on the list as well....

So , the day winds on...

The issue i faced is that MTR used to maintain the whole disk structure , as provided by the UDF filesystem , to calculated what I call set "base sectors'

I need these as a root reference.

Of course , when rebuilding the disks via the internal pointers it removes sets ( those who are cloned only in the file table )
so , of course , no base sectors for those.

I have had to gut the older baseSector code , build a new structure of new sectors and names in the format of the original layout , patch the holes for the missing sets , and now reference those sectors for the baseSector calculation.

Seems to work, layout matches with DVDSectorprobe.....

I still have to go over the VMGM code , and improve that speed wise.

Then go into DVDSector probe and see if I can cram in the new code there so we get the Bups read correctly ( currently some cannot be found.... )

well , its deep dive time , im still not happy with the structural remapping code.
I just dont feel its bullet proof.

Im reverse engineering the the structure now , and piecing together the info i need from what i find in the structure.
Its slow going , but this needs to be rock solid.
